About Sanitary Stainless Steel Check Valves / Non Return Valves
Updated: May 17
Food Grade Stainless Steel Check Valves are used throughout the Malaysian food and beverage industry. This post will provide a basic discussion of the valve.
Sanitary check valves are used in many applications. It normally comes in weld end or ferrule ends, and available in SS 316L, from 1" to 4".
Check valves allow fluid to flow in only one direction. With pressure, product flows in through one port where a spring loaded disc allows it through, and exit from the other port. Once the disc closes, the product will not be able to return. Sanitary check valves can be installed in vertical and horizontal applications.
Unlike Sanitary Ball Valves and Butterfly Valves, Check Valves work automatically and do not require a person to operate, and can be cleaned by CIP systems. However, Sanitary check valves requires a small amount of upstream pressure to operate, which is called cracking pressure.
While its automatic and simple operating principle makes it convenient to use, sticky products can sometimes cause the valve to not operate properly.
Also, because the disc is always in the way of product flow, there will be a slight pressure drop.
NKE Flow stocks Check Valves from 1" to 4". If you have more questions, feel free to contact us. Or visit this link below for more information about the valve.
